The Blue Jackal

A hungry jackal was wandering near a village when he accidentally fell into a tub of blue dye. When he climbed out, his fur was completely blue. The other animals did not recognize him.

The jackal returned to the forest and told the animals that he had been specially chosen to rule over them. Because they had never seen a blue animal before, the animals believed him. They gathered around and treated him like a king.

The blue jackal enjoyed being treated like a king. But one night, he heard other jackals howling in the distance. Without thinking, he lifted his head and howled loudly too. The animals immediately realized who he really was.

The animals discovered that the blue jackal had tricked them. He quickly ran away from the forest. His colorful disguise had fooled everyone for a while, but he could not hide his true nature forever.

Moral: Pretending to be someone you are not cannot last forever. Being honest about who you are is better than living behind a disguise.
