The Brahmin and the Mongoose

A kind family had a pet mongoose that lived with them. The mongoose was gentle and playful, and it loved spending time with the family's baby. The parents trusted the mongoose to stay near the child.

One day, the baby's mother left the house for a short while. When she returned, she saw the mongoose covered with blood near the baby's room. She became frightened and immediately thought the mongoose had hurt her child.

Without checking what had happened, the mother became angry and blamed the mongoose. Later, she entered the room and discovered the baby was safe. Beside the baby was a dead snake that the mongoose had fought to protect the child.

The mother realized that she had judged the mongoose without knowing the truth. She felt deeply sorry for acting too quickly. The mongoose had actually protected the baby from danger.

Moral: Never make an important decision before knowing the whole truth. Acting in anger can lead to painful mistakes.
